Cool beaver fact: the reason their teeth look so red is because the front layer of tooth enamel is very high in iron content. They are literally equipped with a set of self-sharpening iron tools to cut down trees.

I had a beaver lodge on my property at the cottage a few years back, and I’d hear the adults and babies calling back and forth with a kind of breathy “who who” noise, the babies’ calls softer and higher pitched.
