Here's what a Disney Pirates ride looks like, without the sex-slave auction

It would, wouldn’t it? Someone should get John Kasson on that, actually:

Also, there is this:

The Jorvik Viking Centre was/is similar.

I haven’t been in years but the smell is one of the things everyone remembers about it.

Oh! That’s amazing! Next time I get to go to Ireland, I’m there!

And these aren’t really amusement parks, but we’ve got Colonial Williamsburg, too, which has actors:

And I’ll go there, too.

But none of these are in my field. I need someone to have a recreation of like a punk dive (the Masque in LA, CBGBs in NYC, etc). Needs to be accurate, right down to the shitty bathrooms!

My point is that it not a clear argument at all, only your justifications for a repugnant scene based on what you imagine their motivations to be.

This paragraph makes me sick to my stomach given the context. I fully understand what you and @Seperque are suggesting. I just can’t figure out why anyone would even bother offer even more disgusting justifications for an already repugnant scene so casually and cavalierly. I had hoped my questions would make that evident to the writers.

Not imagined. Not invented. It’s textual evidence.

Textual evidence? That’s a good one.

I get it. You’ve already said that the new scene is boring and confusing without sex slaves, and somehow damages what most understand is already an incoherent narrative…in an amusement park ride.

You can find anything anyway you like. But your callousness with respect to the subject and your choice to focus on editorial criticisms of changes that are generally agreed to be in improvement to nonsensical family park ride is…curious.

Most old pirate films and westerns include scenes from dance halls, bawdy houses, bordellos or whatever. I don’t think that acceptance of them in historical fiction equates acceptance of prostitution or sexual slavery in real life. Personally, I cannot see where unforced prostitution is any of my business.

Yes and no.

However, if you’re kindly implying this is a good breaking point for me, I’ll take that recommendation. I could, I’ve got a lot of conceptual unpacking I could do. But I’m also tired of it.

Edit: Oh, but obviously I never said the scene was boring because it lacked sex slaves. big sigh there because it’s so ridiculous but you can’t let smears like that stand

Who ever said that you did?

Perhaps that was a hint; you’ve been sea-lioning throughout the entire conversation, maybe it’s time to finally give it a rest?

Did you really just try to ‘Pee-Wee Herman’ me?

Seriously?

Melizatic, sorry. I totally thought I was responding to another person. You are not the sea-lion (nor am I… I understand, I think, why you think so, but the impression is wrong.)

No harm no foul; but if you are actually conversing in earnest, then perhaps you really should consider letting it go.

It’s just a kid’s ride at an overpriced overrated amusement park.

No, surely not, no. No one was alive then!

Sure, go ahead; mock my denial that I’m actually ten years older than I feel. I still swear the 80’s were “only 20 years ago.”
