K-Tel may have had that issue. I know other companies certainly did. The Columbia House Record Club managed to burn me one, with a lame album of covers.
K-Tel’s big ripoff was that they would heavily edit the songs to get the length down, so that they could fit 9 or 10 tracks on one album side.
