I worked in government many years and literally saw times where a bully or sex harasser was openly going after a victim and the supervisors would lower their heads like children and scurry away. Anyone dumb enough to try to get help when being bullied would be told to “talk it out” with theeir assailant. 100% of the time this is how it played out. These school administrators are the exact same.

If not for the 6-7 year age difference I’d be wondering if you and I went to school together. Right down to the Pin Stripe Mafia stuff, though I suppose that’s probably one of those trends that was making the rounds around that time.
I wore a trench coat and fedora in the later part of High School too, and it was a few years before Columbine. Like you said, “the least violent, the least aggressive”. Even the kids who were more punk were that way.
