I think it looks a lot like a microwave oven. Just sayin’.
Hopefully they have fully segregated that function; or very, very carefully hardened the points of interface; but it seems like there would be a few possible temptations to connect:
I can’t think of why you would want to adjust the target temperature range that the device would seek to maintain when in use, ‘safe and comfortable for dogs’ isn’t something that changes all that often; but for a small box that is likely to be used only periodically (with particularly large gaps during off-hours in that area) it might well be more energy efficient to just let the temperature drift however it wants when not in use, then run at full blast for a minute to bring temperatures back into range when in use. If so, this makes at least the ability to remotely activate and deactivate ‘maintain safe temperature’ state remotely.
One would also want to be able to monitor temperature and the assorted system health data of the heating and cooling systems remotely; but that is something you could make intrinsically read-only without obvious loss of utility.
