What do you find interesting about his argument here - basically the things we as a global society take for granted is new in the scope of human history?
Partly I just like showing off the wow factor of deep time, but I also think that the message that technological society is actively constructed and still new is important.
We still don’t know how the agricultural/urbanisation revolution is going to turn out. It’s too soon to tell; hunter-gatherer was yesterday.
I found that interesting too, especially since I general work within this new era. I liked what he said about fragility of this period. It’s part of what I like about history, it gets you out of yourself and your time, and helps to humanize people in the past, if that makes sense.
