Fun design, very similar to one that I’ve seen used at a local Renaissance Faire. My only note is that the guy should consider wrapping the trunk of the tree in some kind of protective cover if he doesn’t want to kill the tree by stripping the bark off…

Hey, I made one myself as a covid project and nobody got maimed on it so far!

(You may notice that unlike the guy in this post I put up a perimeter of caution tape to keep bystanders from getting whacked in the head.)

“Ominous” doesn’t necessarily mean the same as “inevitably doomed.” A story that starts “it was a dark and stormy night” might end with “so I stayed in and drank tea with honey.” But there’s a certain dramatic implication to starting a sentence that way. I’m glad your sentence with an ominous start ends happily!
