The Grenada repair was performed with copious amounts of cheap alcohol, and alcohol has a way of making more force seem like the best possible idea for all possible situations. “Doesn’t fit” does not always equal “Get a Bigger hammer”. 
I have since learned the value of hand-tightening bolts to check operation and clearance before torquing everything to spec (and I probably don’t drink as much booze when wrenching, either).
