It is the lack of evidence provided against GMO safety. So far there are currently no strongly correlated links provided that indicate that there are health risks specific to any GMO product. When properly administered studies show this and are replicated, I would feel that there is reason to change my mind on the topic. The current studies do not indicate that anyone currently has reason for concern. It is not impossible. But shoddy research and clickbait is not convincing.
PS: I already linked to a teardown of that garbage āgm maizeā study.
Indeed. I tended not to worry too much about the GMO issue until well respected teams with no axe to grind were being tarred and feathered with no evidence proving them wrong. Streisand effect and all thatā¦
Why did you feel the need to interpolate the word āgarbageā into the above sentence? You donāt feel the takedown does a good enough job of its own?
The Guardian article I linked points out that the study used the exact same protocols used by Monsanto to prove that the crop in question is safe. The article also makes some other good points that are very relevant to the theme of this discussion ā what we think we know and why we think we know it.
Weāre getting off topic regarding the starbucks here, so if you would like to continue this discussion ā assuming you can be open-minded and refrain from abuse ā I would be happy to split off into a different thread.
PS: What would be your response to someone who claimed:
" So far there are currently no strongly correlated links provided that indicate that there are ecological effects specific to any emissions of carbon dioxide."
FIRST of all I DOUBT this story is true. I agree with others users questioning it.
SECONDLY, if you do hack/game the system, be smart and keep a low profile. Donāt be an ASS or stick out or practically demand that this be shut down. This guy isnāt guilt of gaming the system, he is guilty of gaming the system and being an ass. No one should be an ass, and if you insist on being one you should pay.
I like this guy but heās an amateur and a dilettante. True haute artistes of coffee largesse know that itās 5 regular shots, no long shots, and only 4 pumps of vanilla. That shitāll kill ya.
A store manager I knew had an interesting policy that would have helped this situation.
Every staff member was allowed to tell a customer to āfuck offā once per year. He would back them 100% on this one time.
It was incredibly cathartic and liberating to be able to tell an asshole customer to get fucked. And, surprisingly, it was hardly ever used - staff would always think first, āIs this the asshole I want to burn my fuck off on?ā
Sounds like the customer in the OP needs to be told to fuck off.
Thatā¦is the greatest ad-hoc policy Iāve ever heard of. Kudos to him, thatās a manager who didnāt forget his days working as a front-end associate.
I absolutely love my Starbucks store - simply because of the people that work there. I use every opportunity to build up stars for free drinks - but I enjoy the employees and they enjoy me - absolutely no disrespect from either party ever. And I give them amazing tips simply because they are amazing people and itās always an enjoyable experience. And I ask for crazy amounts of sugary sweet stuff added BUT I am the polar opposite from degrading and demeaning when I ask. And seriously, they were worried about my health because of my multiple daily visitsā¦ and 20 lbs that I gained later, they probably had a valid cause for concern. OOPSā¦ back on the Primal PALEO bandwagonā¦ healthier choice!
