Sounds like a good solution to the problem of how long it takes to cook steel cut oats. How hard is it to clean oatmeal out of a thermos?
Rinse. quick sponge. If you close the thermos when done the stuff won’t even dry out. It just washes up easy.

Seriously good hack. Sending to the hound-dawged parents of preteens that I know.
I would recommend using only a wide mouth thermos, just in case you forget about it under the seat of your car, and come back to a fuzzy smelly nightmare. Ask me how I know this? Actually, please don’t, just take my word for it.

Also a long spoon for getting oatmeal out of the bottom of the thermos.
