My high school chemistry teacher had a great Christmas project she’d do every year. A month or two before the holiday she would put a copper wire tree form in a large glass beaker and fill it with silver nitrate. After a couple of days it would start to look fuzzy as tiny silver crystals began to precipitate onto the wires. Over the next several weeks the branches would get thicker and by the time we went on Christmas break it would be completely filled out. That was over 50 years ago and I’d completely forgotten about it until just now so thanks for that. Maybe I’ll set one up for my grandkids next year.
