How to make a spider catching device

That’s one way…

Leave dem spiders alone dergonit, crazy nerdfolk!

That’s what I use and it seems safest for the spiders. Luckily I don’t have to deal with Huntsman spiders down in Oz, those things are too big and fast.

That would be a ‘pooter’ (if you suck instead of blow). I’ve made some to use for small arthropods, but never one this large.

All of these methods rely on the spider Not running away when you get close or wave some big thing at it

My first thought on seeing the vid was 1/2" just wouldn’t cut it in Oz.

A big old huntsman wouldn’t fit.

I’d like you to come visit Australia some time.
You wont fit a lot of them into a paper towel tube.

Tick, tock…

Wolf spiders (at least I think that’s what they are) move into my apartment occasionally. I don’t mind so much, because they tend to eat things I don’t like, but for some reason they like to park themselves on the floor in the middle of the doorway between the kitchen and living room, as if they don’t want to go on living.

The missus has found they won’t respond sensibly to threatening language, either.

Also, that steel jawed thing used to hold stuff is a vise–not a vice.

You could just blow up a balloon and pop it for less, but you’d learn nothing, and have no fun doing it.
