FYI this company sells 38" gongs on Amazon for $3300. Goodness knows what an 80" one will run you.

WANT!

That sounds amazing.

Incidentally, I’d have loved to hear the original sound of the Rank gong being struck.
('cos it’s made of paper)

When I was done with radiation, I was informed that some former patient had gifted a gong nearly this size (different support housing, though) to the department for other patients to celebrate their finishing of treatment. Apparently the patients before me had gingerly hit it and walked away. I sing in a chorus and am often up close and personal to the percussion session, so I’ve seen the various ways a gong can be played. Let’s just say, I surprised everyone on the floor!

$27,720 at Memphis Drum Shop, and a few other places. And worth it.

Several of the sounds he coaxes from that thing remind me of sci-fi and horror movie soundtracks.

This is not an improvement on the original, which sucks as well.
I love T-Rex though.

The Power Station… isn’t that Duran Duran?
