One of my favorite pieces of advice I learned as a green young software architect in the Dot Com Boom. “If you’re working on retail systems for a startup, build for returns from the beginning.” It’s a great metaphor for building systems in general.
To save on inconvenience, do they have a delivery option that allows the purchaser to nominate their nearest land fill as the drop-off point?

That sounds like good, but not management track, advice.
Building for returns sounds like the sort of thing that little people with some connection to the viability of the company and the patience to iterate on the product would do; not what a bold visionary who is just waiting for the dumb money(HP keeps coming up) to the enable their exit strategy so they can move on to a newer shinier piece of VC candy with no personal losses and some ‘lessons learned’.
The company doesn’t have to worry. Once the return rate reaches 100% (give it time) they won’t have to process any returns!
