One of the best cover versions of anything of all time!
How 'bout that. As a followup, YouTube actually recommended something cool and relevant:
Oh! Joan Jet plz!
I just heard this version via KEXP like a few mins ago! Stop stealing my stream man!
I was there in Palo Alto in 1985 the night they premiered it. I went nuts with delight and some stupid punker halfway through the tune decided to hurl a half full beer bottle at Grant stopping the performance.
Sonny Curtis by the way who wrote the tune was also one of Buddy Holly’s Crickets.
Edited for spelling: Palo Alto, not Pablo Alto.
What a great story! I always love versions of songs in completely different genres then you’d expect. And I always hate when bad apples fuck it up for the rest of us…
Also… cause I can’t resist… since I know that punks often used the term “punker” from the sources I’ve read…
I still have this CD single.
@pesco @Donald_Petersen both those versions have been in my top favorites playlists since forever
Hüsker Dü, normally written “Husker du” is Norwegian for “do you remember” and was also the name of a tv program made by Norwegian state broadcasting (NRK) back in the 80s. It was a musical program looking back on popular music from previous years: https://tv.nrk.no/serie/husker-du
When I was a kid and TVs were made of tubes, we had this:http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MzMzWDUwMA==/z/~0cAAOxy7nNTVkmp/$_3.JPG?set_id=2
good old times. nowadays everything is smart and connected by a series of tubes
Aha, that’s a Danish game, never seen that up here… According to danish wikipedia the band took the name from the game.
