After suffering abuse at the hand of a narcissistic cult-leader boss, I’m convinced that PKD personally devised the Voight-Kampff as a test for narcissists and sociopaths. Except in this case what you’re screening for is a lack of empathy, by provoking emotional responses that would be obvious if you tried to fake them.

So this is sort of a Robert D. Hare and Tortoise test?
