It’s good to know what he thinking. Now run him out of his position. Time to go.

This is so fucking crazy. It’s crazy enough to be against sanctuary cities - if nothing else, when that status is revoked, immigrants stop reporting crime and the crime rate goes up (not to mention all the other ways that immigrants stop constructively interacting with the community, out of fear). This is just an extra layer of batshit on top of that. This is not a constructive policy, this is fucking waging civil war against "blue states.’

The regime is creating a no-win situation: if you support the sanctuary cities (as I do) you’re in essence (and unwillingly) contributing to the weakening of the Union and the national standards it sets. Same goes for supporting pot legalisation. It’s a horrible time.

Yeah, he has no goddamn clue about the laws he is supposed to enforce.

State and local law enforcement are specifically forbidden from enforcing immigration law without Federal approval and their own consent. If ICE wasn’t so lazy in following due process and procedure, they wouldn’t have an issue with these cities.

It’s definitely worth pointing out that this jerk is threatening to arrest local government officials for the “crime” of not wasting local tax dollars doing ICE’s job for them with no federal support, necessarily diverting resources from other enforcement priorities in the process. If undocumented immigrants were the threat right-wing blowhards make them out to be, there would be no sanctuary cities, and those local officials would be all too happy to assist in enforcement. Only they aren’t, and this jackass is threatening to prosecute elected officials for rationally representing the interests of their constituencies by setting their enforcement priorities accordingly.

Not at all. You are acknowledging that there are problems with the system that aren’t being addressed at the highest level and doing what can be done locally to ameliorate the effects.

Our immigration system is a mess and there is probably a need for both a manual labor visa and less draconian penalties for immigration violation (for non-violent offenders). But these have to be dealt with at a Federal level and Congress doesn’t want to even bother.

Pot legalization is the same sort of thing. Federal laws which are counterproductive and destructive being dealt with at the local level because Congress does not want to get off its duff and handle the situation maturely.

Aren’t you entitled to a jury of your peers? They can’t exclude every pro immigration (or pro-weed) person from the pool, so it’ll be amusing see the amount of mistrials if the feds do “crack down”
