Or there might be more locally produced, since they would no longer be competing with cheaper produce from a Federally watered desert. There’s an amazing amount of fallow farmland in the northeastern US.

So we’re comparing a smaller area with good natural rainfall to a larger area of desert with some of it watered by expensive elaborate systems to grow water hungry rice and alfalfa? I grew up in the lush green east, and was shocked when I went west and it was brown except for a brief period in the spring.
