If the International Space Station was no higher than an airplane, this is what it would look like flying by

You’d notice the sonic boom.

If something comes for you at supersonic speed, you only get a chance to notice the sonic boom if it misses.

That does make me wonder how inertia works with Weeping Angels though.

With the force of that boom, I don’t know if it could be said to have missed.

I’m standing here with a mental whip and a wooden stool thinking, “Down, nerds, down! This is art, not science.”

If the International Space Station were

Subjunctive FUCKING tense.

Came to make this same point. I’m pleased the commentariat beat me to it.

Said another way, in orbital mechanics, speed is altitude and altitude is speed. You can’t orbit this low, and you can’t fly this fast. So this thought experiment is no more sensical than a cartoon, really.

I hope they rolled up all the windows on the ISS or it would be very breezy in there!

No higher than an airplane is a pretty loose metric

In orbital mechanics, the entire altitude range of aircraft is a rounding error, so it’s all about perspective. :grimacing:
