I read it after it came out. It is good. If I remember right, Patti Smith had been helping him edit it and said it was pretty much done when he passed. A bit of the book is mentioned (SPOILERS) on this track from his Praying Mantis album from 0-1:45

I know I’ve seen ‘Curtis’s Charm’ (the movie based on one of his stories) available to watch recently. It really is very good.
