Aaawwww the story of the Batavia… I heard that Paul Verhoeven was planning to do a movie about it… Years ago. Since a full-scale replica exists, I wonder why Hollywood never bothered to adapt such a movie-esque story.

Batavia’s Graveyard by Mike Dash is an excellent, well-researched, grippingly told book on this lurid topic. (The Dutch translation is fine and I warmly recommend it if you want to be really hardcore on this subject.)
