Fossils of ancient giant salamanders closely related to the modern Chinese and Japanese species were once thought to be the bones of humans who had died in Noah’s Flood.

The genus name is still Andrias, which means “image of a man”, in reference to this belief.

Depending on where you are, that could still be the case. :wink:

Here’s a 5000 mile curve from arbitrary point in Norway and directed toward US west coast. Could be right.
