Looks great and a great idea. However… I can’t help but nitpick about sea salt (sorry). That’s just salt, dissolved in water, then evaporate the water (you can put in trace amounts of other elements if you want). This would not be something that would be lost knowlege.

Now, plant based spices (which, I guess, most are) could, of course, be lost in a human diaspora. But really, for sustainability, he should be looking for cinnamon trees, not cinnamon spice. A big crate of cinnamon spice will eventually run out, but a forest of cinnamon trees can supply the galaxy.

What’s that? Shut up? I’m spoiling the fun? You’re right. I’ll show myself out.

That was a ton of fun (although I quibbled over the sea salt myself… maybe it’s the exact balance of Earth’s ocean salt that he wanted, not just raw NaCl), and I would love to see a whole series based on this!
