Definitely a cool scientific find, but still…poor baby.
Placer mining in the Yukon regularly uncovers bits and pieces of mammoths and mammoth ivory. When they are systematically removing massive amounts of earth, all kinds of stuff gets uncovered.
What is admirable is that there is partnership between the miners, the territorial government and indigenous government for this discovery.
Poor little guy.

I hope they’re able to preserve the DNA record until the Earth is at headed towards wooly-mammoth habitability someday.
