I was at CNN during their coverage of Tiananmen Square. Turner was on the newsroom floor and communicating his support directly to the bureau, so this is completely in character for him. I can’t conceive of the likes of Zaslav or Murdoch exhibiting that level of on-the-spot concern for this kind of story.
honestly, i still cannot watch much footage from that day. like the Challenger disaster, it just makes me weep, and i’d rather just avoid seeing and reliving it again.
… indeed, we had the 20th anniversary already, can we just not do this any more until the 25th or 30th
100% agreement.
Even if I just think back and remember how I myself felt on those days I get a knot in my stomach, I sure as hell don’t need to see video of other people feeling sick, let alone images of the planes/buildings/dust/etc.
I was traveling to Northern Ireland for my (now) sister-in-law’s wedding. It was an evening flight. Here’s the ticket:
