Apart from walking around the nominally closed leaf, the cat could also push the door out of its way. It’s not locked or lockable.

There was also clearly a large dog and he got to stay inside. Such an indignity for that cat.

A friend of mine had a cat who got out and was missing for three days. It eventually found its way back and for the next three days followed my friend around meowing constantly, only stopping to eat. My friend would fall asleep to the cat sitting next to the bed meowing at her. She’d wake up and it would still be there, still going.
We used to think the cat was telling her the full story of its outside adventure. Now I think it was yelling at her to never let that happen ever again.
