We’ve had this before in 1980 when The Blues Brothers came out. Suddenly a whole new generation of kids got turned on to Sam & Dave through a cover version and then a bunch of “music my parents like” such as Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Ray Charles, etc.

Battlefield Vietnam did this a long time ago. The radio in vehicles could play a variety of tracks from the era/film genre.
