War is horrific and terrible especially for the civilians who are caught up it in and are just trying to live their lives in the midst of everything going on around them.
For people outside of the immediate area of the conflict, knowing what is truth and what is propaganda is difficult, it’s also difficult for the people in the conflict but as you say, truth is a much lower priority than simple survival in that situation.

There are just so many layers of “wrong” to telling this kind of lie… but (a much less important one I can’t help thinking about it) why would someone want to tell a story that comes so close to putting their side in the role of Pharaoh after the tenth plague?
