John Henry said to his Captain,
“A man ain’t nothin’ but a man,
And before I’ll let your steam drill beat me down,
Die with the hammer in my hand.”

“In 2020 I would like to gather all of the world’s robots and aim to hold an Olympics where they compete in technical skills,”

Isn’t that exactly how one of the Mega Man games started?

Between this, the DARPA robotics challenge and the Cybathalon in Zurich in 2016, the field of robotics competitions is looking more interesting all the time…

He’s not planning to facilitate the rise of the machines, he wants their downfall! The quote is missing the last detail after the comma:

…to the death.

If he really gathers “all of the world’s robots” and lets them compete in a battle of elimination, there won’t be much of an uprising as the number of robots declines with the progress of his cruel game. We’ll just hope we can be friends with the ultimate victor, but again, it will just be that one uber machine. Perhaps the prize will be a memory wipe and subsequent servitude?
