Japan's promising trial of an undersea turbine that generates power from deep ocean currents

and lights at night apparently

“Having people reduce unnecessary lighting during migratory periods does help,” Sallinger said. “That can be as simple as shutting off your porch lights and your outside lights at night.”

( helps with emissions and migration? that’s like saving two birds with one switch )

I believe they use ZPMs.

Agreed. I’ve long thought tidal and current generators could be a big part, but only a part, of the overall solution. Also, thanks for properly employing “magic bullet.” Though I’m sure its definition will change due to usage, the more commonly heard “silver bullet” should only apply to werewolves, the Lone Ranger, and Coors. And maybe weapons systems.

I have a feeling that the Fukushima nuclear disaster greatly lessened any reluctance in pursuing undersea turbine power.
