Just look at this manually pixellated banana and apple

Look, I’m broad minded about what a consenting apple and banana can do in the privacy of the fruit bowl, but the way those fruit cubes are commingling is totally depraved- you can’t even tell where one starts and the other leaves off! If our sweet invisible sky daddy had wanted us to have appananas, he’d have effing made some, but no, he made the beasts of the air and the water and the plants and some rocks and then reconsidered about unicorns, and then he rested, dammit. No appananas anywhere as far as the eye can see. .

My first thought is this food art or a food porno?

The banapplety of evil.

Food ‘mouth feel’… out the window.

At the risk of being pedantic, I think those would qualify as voxels, rather than pixels.

No greater risk around these parts, indeed :eyes:

Aren’t voxels in 3d space? These are 2d.

No, I think they are 3d. Cubes. Cut out of food.

The only cure for pedantry is more pedantry. In the original instance, the cubed fruit is neither a voxel nor a pixel, since both of those are data structures used to create a simulacra simulacrum of a thing that exists or could exist in the world. The descriptors pixel and voxel become even more unsatisfactory once we no longer have the original instance of the thing itself, and are instead presented with a simulacra simulacrum that is made up of actual pixels. In the latter case, the representation of the fruit cubes must be taken as a sign which references the pixels that comprise the simulacra simulacrum. This is the true joy of the "banapplety " image (thanks @blondie!), a playful layering of self-referential signs, all teetering at the lip of that vast existential dread which attends the diminution of meaning in the postmodern world.

Simulacrum.

Bah. You win the pedantry battle. Fixed.

ETA: Thought about this some more; so galling. Hoisted by my own petard.

I’m not convinced. Shadowing is not consistent b/w “cubes/pixels” and the food.

On some of the cubes you can see the front and also the top.
