To be fair, the Liberals are just Canadian Democrats. I wasn’t expecting the abiogenesis of a spine.

Also to be fair, the US got “Life + 70” from the EU, which got it from Germany.

Clearly we need to ensure that any successful author’s great-great-great-grandchildren are well provided for. /s

Conversely, discover an earth-shatteringly innovative new material, or drug? Decent odds it’ll be out of patent protection before or just shortly after you successfully bring it to market. And in general that’s a good thing.

What the absolute fuck. Fuck that guy.

Copyright was taken over by rent seekers the second it was first extended.

Trudeau is stealing from his current fellow citizens, and future citizens.

The assholes thought pirating documents, books, music and movies was rampant before; this simply encourages people to ignore stupid laws further and copy works and modify software to suit their needs because the various intellectual property laws are well into the stupid zone.

It’s not the author they give a shit about–it’s the corporate profits. If you wanted to be fair to the authors you would stipulate that full rights return to the author after a set interval such as 25 years. This is purely for the benefit of media corporations, not for the creative individual.
