Kickstarting an augmented reality, artificial lifeform in a kids' picture-book

Find and play with AR pets? With a tablet? I realize this is reflex-codger-talk, but surely an actual pet or even an actual friend would be a far better choice for most kids?

But it’s genetic! And it’s augmented reality! How can real reality beat the augmented kind? And they’re self-animated, if you assume electronics and batteries just grow. That there’s a metric ton of buzzwords. I don’t see no “meat pet” using buzzwords like those!
