I’m glad the department will have to pay but I can’t help but think of how many families of people who were actually murdered by officers of that department were forced to settle for far less compensation—if lucky enough to get any at all.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department is one of those institutions that needs to be burnt to the ground before re-building it is even considered.
