The department is so far refusing to release bodycam footage of the killing.

The very fact that this is possible makes a mockery of the entire concept of bodycam footage. Refusing to release footage should be immediately met with serious consequences, and this shouldn’t even be up for debate. No, they shouldn’t get a week or a month to edit, manipulate or “misplace” the footage. Hand it over. NOW.

Exactly. This is a law enforcement agency the institutional culture of which allowed for deputy street gangs and ran gladiatorial combats amongst its prisoners. Of course it’s going to attract and welcome thugs like this.
