It turns out that Bankman’s and Fried’s Very Special Boy wasn’t the disheveled fintech quant genius he presented himself as to the press but just another swindler who couldn’t con a judge and jury.

It really doesn’t help that saying “I don’t recall” isn’t any sort of a defense when the prosecutor comes with all the appropriate receipts. (But it does make for some hilarious reading of court transcripts.)
