Somehow I only just realized that Inspector Gadget was voiced by Don Adams, the same actor who portrayed similarly bumbling-but-lovable secret agent Maxwell Smart from Get Smart. Obvious in retrospect but I guess I always assumed it was just a different actor going for a similar schtick.

Huh. I’d always recognized the voice but assumed that they got a voice actor to impersonate him. Well good to know they sprung for the real deal.

Wikipedia says Adams struggled to find other roles after Get Smart because he fell prey to typecasting, so I guess taking that role was just making the best of the situation.
