I adored the Southern Reach / Area X trilogy. I felt Vandermeer managed to give both (1) a modern spin on Lovecraftian-esque horror without the social baggage that Lovecraft exuded, and (2) a brilliant take on human ineffibility, such that, while the series definitely resolves, it does not do so by providing pat explanations of the mysteries in the story. He writes surrealism, without veering into Exquisite Corpse-like stultification.
Will definitely give this a read.
Wouldn’t a transcript be stellar?

I just read the Southern Reach trilogy and Borne and thought they were okay. The one I really liked with Finch.
