I enjoyed the writing in all of the books but in the end I guess I need more resolution than Jeff VanderMeer was willing to give me.
I’d be curious to know if Absolution provides you with the sense of closure you were looking for! There are definitely some “answers,” of a sort, or at least, some new context that makes the bigger picture even clearer (though it’s still not all spelled out explicitly every time).
Agreed. The books are like elaborate tableaus, weird for the sake of weirdness, with no grounding. They are dreamlike in that anything can happen in a dream. While the writing was good, I don’t care to hear anyone else’s dreams.
I was glad I read the original books, but can’t see myself reading these ones. Not because they aren’t written well, but because I felt awful once I finished reading them.
I had the same feeling after most John Irvine books. Really well written unpleasant experiences.
I enjoyed the original trilogy, and I enjoyed Borne. However I found Dead Astronauts (sequel to Borne) so difficult that I gave it up halfway through. So I won’t be reading this new sequel trilogy.
This article has so many errors that reading it was painful.
Thanks that was so helpful!!
Annihilation , most of the characters here have stripped of their names and identities,
Here are just two examples of non existent editing.
