OK, so what exactly are we listening to here? Atmospheric open-air microphones? Piezoelectric microphones? Sonified seismic data? A combination?
The article didn’t seem to shed any light on what’s going on exactly.
Noped out of there as soon as the percussive music started. Why can’t people just play the fucking video/sound/answer?
Was hoping for this instead:

There isn’t a need for a microphone on mars because of the thin atmosphere. Atmospheric phenomena are recorded through their vibrations on the ground.

The SoundCloud version has no music. I was hoping for an explosion but it sounded more like a baseball being caught in the middle of a glove to me. A very large baseball in a very, very, large glove.
