On the topic of Korean women working on the sea, watched an episode of My Love based in South Korea on Netflix last evening - My Love [Netflix] Review: Documentary Tells Six Stories of True Love | IndieWire - centered on a long married couple (47 years) who are still farming and aquaculturing along. Recommended.

I have met some Haenyo and bought fresh seafood from them on Jeju Island. They are tough as nails. I saw them diving in very turbulent and ice cold water among the rocks.

They are also self sufficient, communally organized and proud.
