Rest in peace, good lady.
Never saw a scene with Maggie Smith in it that I wasn’t immediately captivated by her performance over all else. An actor for the ages who will be greatly missed.
Oh to have been able to listen in on a conversation between those two legends!
she may have pooh-poohed her role in the Harry Potter movies, but she’s brilliant in them. love her.
She was terrific in Downton Abbey-- easily my favorite character.
First thing I thought of when I heard the news was her final scene from the series. Always a boss.
The comments section of celebrity deaths on Fark (dot) com is always a loving tribute to the entertainment talent:
Girls! Girls!
I’d think Malfoy would be a likely suspect…
I don’t know much about Dame Smith’s life, but I loved her recent work. She had a great talent for portraying the core of kindness and love wrapped up and hidden by layers of stern adherence to rules and competence and the toughness required of most women in powerful positions.
