Which I haven’t read though the article above does make me want to. About 25 years ago I read a bunch of histories of medicine mostly focusing on the 18th to early 19th century so maybe I’m more susceptible than most.

Vermont was the Republic of Vermont in 1777. It was a country when it abolished slavery. It was admitted to the Union as the 14th State in 1797.

Although the show is about genealogy, this episode of Who Do You Think You Are? provides very interesting details about historical events in Ireland. David Tennant’s Irish ancestors and relatives are featured (video set at 18:20), as well as his reaction to learning about the actions of Protestants and Catholics in his family tree:
