O_0 I thought Facebook was the Devil?
Facebook and IoT devices seem to be ok as long as there’s money to be made.
Facebook is a terrible investment for most businesses, beyond setting up a site for contact and republishing press releases if you’re big enough. Better off maintaining a good web site. Their ad targeting is not as accurate as they pretend it is, and you’re better off spending your money in Adwords, with some left over for Bing Ads.
There, I just saved you ten smackers.
Gonna go out on a limb here and say that if the goal is to seamlessly integrate marketing articles into everyday blog content, this one might’ve missed the mark.
[edit] also I didn’t mean to reply directly to you, fnordius. Guess I’m not 100% awake just yet…
No worries. No one really reads the comments on store ads, but after looking at the ROI of some companies, I understand why they have abandoned Facebook advertising. The metrics are dismal.
Seriously - I know the BB editors are not a monolith in their views, but it’s pretty fucked up how we get diatribes over this and that, and then have your branded store sell the same thing.
I know of at least one thing I have bought from a facebook ad. Maybe that number is 2 or 3 total. But over like 7-8 years of use, that isn’t that great.
One word: dialectic.
Agreed. There’s a level of perversity trying to hawk crap like this or internet of shit devices while reporting (quite rightly) on the abusive practices of these corporate shitweasels. But i guess it keeps the lights on huh? Let the algorithmic dice fall where they will…
As long as you’re selling fiber supplements:
It seems to me one could find a lot of things that would appeal to the BB demographic that aren’t also in conflict with say the shitty IoT issue and taking advantage of the same FB algorithms one thinks are so bad.
I mean what is next, some Alex Jones branded iodine pills?
pfffft… I hear Facebook is for old people.
One of the most recent aha moments was realising that I am an old person. And use Facebook to talk to my parents and others in my generation.
I don’t want to use whatever my daughter is using, for the simple reason that if I were to use it, I would ruin it for her.
