It’s really just what Susan Silver And Kim Thayil were talking about in that clip, but made real.

As I understand it, it’s background music used in the movie, being used at that point to help highlight the commodification of grunge. Works great in that context. Outside of it, well, we all know (or should know) how subjective taste tends to be.
