I don’t know why it’s obvious that the stone was intended to prevent resurrection. Presumably the Germans in this area at this time were Christians. Christians believe that when Jesus rose from the dead, he moved a huge stone to get out of his tomb.
There are a hundreds of graves from different time periods, but especially from the Early Middle Ages until the early modern period which have been found to contain methods of preventing revenants from rising and there are a number of written sources as well. It’s not a very controversial interpretation

Hah, yeah, fair enough. Having been in the same situation as her, it is sometimes easy to forget what is and isn’t obvious to your audience.
