Not just freezers.
The Walmart here has some sort of sensors on long sticks over the candy aisle - At first I thought it might be accent lighting (a black-light LED to make the labels pop) , but not that. Seems to be just two wires at base… not a camera… motion detector?
Trying to stick within reality, you understand. Leave the transdimensional portal stuff for the frozen food aisle.
The legend that is Robert Rankin covered this way back in 1984 (spooky)…
