I bet none of these people had a problem getting a passport.

Tory MPs and a referee. Nominative determinism hard at work there.

That’s a lot of effort to go through for a middle-school-level one-liner.

I feel a certain kinship with this man, as the name given to me by my parents was Mike Hawk. I never had any legal problems, but at the age of 6, I was kicked out of kindergarten for swearing, when all I did was say my name. After that, my parents started using a different first name for me, and it was legally changed during high school.

I asked my mom if she realized what the name was when she gave it to me. She said she didn’t, but as soon as people started visiting her in the hospital to see the baby, she heard it. She tried to get people to call me Michael instead of Mike, but it didn’t stick. My dad denied naming me that on purpose, but I know he was lying. First, growing up with the last name Hawk, you hear all the potential name-based jokes, like Tommy Hawk, so my dad would have known. Second, he was exactly the kind of smart-ass who would think giving his son that name was hilarious. When my name was legally changed, my dad made me keep Michael as my middle name, in case I ever changed my mind and wanted to start going by Mike Hawk again.

I honestly had trouble figuring out what was wrong with “Mike Hawk” until I said it out loud to someone else.

He sounds like a zany ‘character’

It’s free and easy to change your name in the UK and after loosing the 1st appeal it does seem a pointless hill to die on.

It’s funny because his name is only “dirty” if the reader decides to make it so. The weirdos at the passport office need to maybe unscrew their wigs a little, and perhaps get a hobby.

Yes, clearly it is a joke. He has chosen to make a joke of himself and that’s why he doesn’t have a passport.

It isn’t dirty. F-ing Hard means just means tough.

He chose to make a clown of himself so it is tough luck. He clearly doesn’t care about the name so can easily change it to a proper name.

I kid you not, when i was a senior in high school as an exchange student here in the US in a small mormon town out in bumfuck nowhere NV we had a Mike Hunt. And i have a vague memory of there being another kid with another name that was phonetically rude as well, i want to say it was also Mike Hawk but i can’t be sure and i never bothered to keep the yearbook.

I have empathy for you. My last name is Tuck. The juvenile jokes write themselves.
And the descendance of that asshole Tucker Carlson has led to an uncountable quantity of one bastardization of his first name simply because it rhymes with F*CK.
I won’t change my name though. Maybe that thin-skinned TV dinner tycoon will blink first.

That’s a pretty dope name, tbh.

FuAFO, I guess. For a jokester, he’s not laughing very hard at this situation, which is objectively hilarious.
