There have been so many scandals with the Staties in MA they all blur together. Serious problems there.
And Massachusetts is unusual in the variety of jobs that legally require cops to do them in order to generate more of said overtime.
AIUI any road construction project that has a flagger controlling traffic has to have a cop there to “supervise”. Until relatively recently, they also acted as examiners for driving tests.
