Man holding "Free Manning" sign arrested at 4th of July parade

Never doubted it for a second.

Stephen Harper.

Yeah manā€¦ this is amazing. I have nothing but respect for you.

Lately Iā€™m convinced thereā€™s a word been left out of your national anthem: Land of the free [wifi]?

You have a legal defense fund going? You should. Weā€™d help.

Thanks for posting on BoingBoing. Good luck with your defence and Mr.Manning is surely enjoying the spot light you added too his detainment.

It would be better too heed requests too leave the parade, standing on the side lines with the sign. Or run about asking people too sign a petition supporting Mr.Manningā€™s release.

Ignoring parade officials and law enforcement is not going to further any altruistic cause. Mimicking people is generally considered poor taste especially when they exhibit shoddy conduct. Rather infantile retaliation IMO,

At first I was aghast. She paid the fine and got her way. Civil disobedience is not a crime. Good for her.

Former PM Chretien talked about one day in public having a joint in one hand and the fine for the joint in the other.

Bottom line, donā€™t do the civil disobedience if you donā€™t have the fine.

What a fabulous protest ethos. Only rich people should be allowed to have input.

Man. As a socialism-loving, maple syrup swilling Canuck, I have to ask: do you guys have any freedoms left anymore, or are those all restricted now ā€œfor your safetyā€?

They are being held in safe keeping. It is for our own good. They donā€™t want us to hurt ourselves on them, those ā€œrightsā€ things have sharp edges and require responsible, properly certified, operators.

Donā€™t worry about us though. We are allowed to look at them any time we want (during normal business hours) and we can discuss them in the Free Speech Zones any time we like. (with some exceptions due to availability of supervisory personnel )

ā€¦You might notice that your fine country didnā€™t exactly step up to the plate when one of our whistleblowers needed a safe haven.

The Canadians are not responsible for cleaning up our messes.

Iā€™ve said my bit. I appreciate hearing all view points.

My views?

1.) I applaud with your motives.

2.) I feel you messed up on your performance, perhaps because you were in a tearing hurry to get out and join the march.

3.) I hope you come away with no more than a slap on the wrist.

If this forum is still open, let us know how you do, OK?

Or, those who are ready and willing too accept the consequences of their actions should be allowed input regardless of financial buoyancy.
